The next Max Battle Weekend in Pokémon GO is about to bring a massive challenge— Dynamax Suicune's debut. It is a legendary Water-type Pokémon from Johto that brings battles, event bonuses, and shiny chances. It will give the trainers a limited-time opportunity to battle and catch the Pokémon. Whether you are raiding with friends or are hunting for rare rewards, here is a breakdown of some strategies, tips, and more to maximize your chances of dominating the event.

How to catch Dynamax Suicune in Pokemon GO?

The Pokémon will appear in the five-star Max Raids during the event running between May 5 and May 11, 2025. Unlike the regular raids, the battles here require Max Particles. So, stock up in advance. Suicune Dynamax is a pure Water-type Pokémon that is weaker than the Electric and Grass moves. So, bring along Magnezone, Zekrom, Zeraora, Tangrowth, or Roserade for the best results.
Note: Give priority to the damage moves like Solar Beam or Thunderbolt, and avoid the use of Ground or Fire types Pokémon that will crumble against the Dynamax Suicune’s hydro pumps.
During the event, the shiny hunters will have the chance to catch Suicune’s shiny variant. The catch rate is not guaranteed, so repeated raids might increase your chances. You can also use Golden Razz Berries or aim for the Excellent Curveball Throws to boost your odds. Team up with the other trainers through Campfire to ensure a victory. The Dynamax form of this Pokémon hits hard. So, if you go solo, you might struggle.

Take advantage of event bonuses for your success

Niantic is about to roll out some major bonuses to help the trainers prepare for a raid. The Max Particle limit is increased to 1600, and the Power Spots will be refreshing faster. You will even get 8x Max Particles for the Power Spots. It will make it easier to power up your team. Make sure to plan the routes near the hotspots or parks for efficient farming.
Between May 5 and May 11, 2025, unlocking and upgrading the Max Moves will cost you 25% fewer particles. It will be the perfect time to strengthen the raid squad before facing the Dynamax Suicune Pokémon. Do not forget the Adventure Sync. It will help you to track the movement of some extra particles. So, keep it active.
Note: Adventure Sync counts the steps even when the app remains closed.

Unlock Dynamax Grookey with free Timed Research

Starting May 5, 2025, the free Timed Research will remain available. It will reward the players with the Dynamax Grookey encounter. As Grookey is the Grass-type Pokémon, it is the solid counter against Suicune. To complete the tasks even grants Max Particles and Grookey Candy. It will help you to power up quickly.
Do not delay, as the research will expire on May 11 at 9:00 PM. If you miss the deadline, you will lose out on the exclusive Pokémon. So, sync this with the raid preparation to strengthen the team early.

Web Store Ultra Box Deal for Raid Preparation

For the trainers who are looking for the extra edge, Pokémon GO Web Store is offering Ultra Box. Priced at $9.99, it includes,
  • 1 Max Mushroom- it will boost Dynamax's power in the middle of the battle.
  • 7 Max Particle Packs- will speed up the upgrades and let you join more raids.

The bundle is perfectly ideal if your plan is to grind raids all weekend. Max Mushroom alone turns the tide in the close battles. It will be worth an investment.

Tips to improve catch rate success

  • Use Campfire to team up, coordinate, and find the nearby raids.
  • Keep the focus on the Electric and Grass-types Pokémon. Avoid Rock, Fire, or Ground-types.
  • Combine the Curveballs, Golden Razz Berries, Excellent Throws, and more for the best catch rate.
  • Beyond the throws and berries, use a Water-type Catch Medal. The Gold tie does add a 1.3x catch bonus. If you want, practice the throw on the Water Pokémon before.
  • After you have defeated the Dynamax Suicune, there is a small chance you might get the shiny. Do not skip the encounter.
  • It might take, at times, 10-15 attempts for nabbing a shiny. Be persistent.

With the right strategy, Dynamax Suicune Pokémon can be yours. Happy raiding!
